Dawson Signs Lustre Christian Standout

Johnslee Pierre from Lustre Christian High School has signed a Letter of Intent to run track and play basketball for the Dawson Buccaneers.

According to Pierre, “I signed with Dawson because it’s a good place to go and finish the development of my game. I really like the community and the guys there, and I will fit in great at Dawson.”

Pierre is a three time all conference and all state selection. He was also selected three times for the All-Defensive Team in District 3C. Pierre has won the Slam Dunk Championship two straight years at the Highline Invitational Camp and was selected twice for the Josh Huestis Montana Elite Invitational Camp.

“I’ve been impressed with Johnslee’s growth as a player over the past few years,” shared Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. “He has had great coaching there from Coach Reddig and you can tell he’s put in a lot of work. With his length, natural ability and athleticism, he has great potential. I know that he will continue growing on a similar trajectory in college within our program.”

Pierre averaged 15.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1 block per game while shooting 62% from the field this past season. He led Lustre to their third straight state tournament appearance. Before three years ago, Lustre had never qualified for the state tournament. This year they finished their season 23-4. They won the divisional championship and finished 2nd in the state tournament. As a sophomore they won their conference, district and division before finishing 3rd at state with a 25-2 record. In the last three seasons, the Lustre Lions have a combined record of 69-12.

Pierre’s high school coach is former Buccaneer Randy Reddig. Reddig had this to say about Pierre, “I am very excited for Johnslee with his signing with DCC. I think it is a perfect fit for his skill set and believe this is a great opportunity for him to grow as a player and a person under the direction of Coach Peterson and his staff. We as a community look forward to supporting Johnslee and the Bucs in the coming years!”

In track Pierre has won four state championships. He is a two time 300 meter hurdle state champion and last year he also won the long jump and triple jump. His senior track season is currently underway.
