Dawson Wins the Mon-Dak Conference Championship and Will Host Region XIII Tournament

Last Thursday, the Dawson Community College Buccaneers won the Mon-Dak Conference Championship. It’s only the 2nd time since 1987 that the Bucs have won their conference. Dawson is currently 12-0 in the league with two games remaining. Miles Community College and North Dakota State College of Science are tied for 2nd place with three losses each. Dawson beat NDSCS in both conference match-ups this season and also in the Mon-Dak Pre-season Tournament in November. Miles also lost to Dawson in the Pre-season Tournament and narrowly lost again in Miles City in January. They will get another shot at Dawson in Glendive on Thursday night at 7:30 pm.

 

With the regular season conference championship, Dawson earned the right to host the Region XIII Tournament February 27-29. It will be the first time DCC has hosted a Men’s Basketball Post-season Regional Tournament in over 60 years since the program began. On February 27th ,there will be two games at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm where the #3 Seed will play the #6 Seed and the #4 Seed will play the #5 Seed. The top two seeds will get a bye and await the winners of those two games. The Semifinals will be on Friday night at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm and the championship will be on Saturday evening. The winner of the Region XIII Championship will travel to play the winner of Region XI in Iowa on March 5th in the District Championship Game.
