Scobey Standout Guard Signs with Dawson CC

Dawson Community College Coach Joe Peterson announced his first men’s basketball signee for the 2021-2022 season. Scobey guard Aidan Fishell will be joining the Bucs next year. Scobey coach Jason Wolfe described Fishell, “Aidan is a fierce competitor with a tremendous feel for the game. We are excited for Aidan and look forward to following him as a Buccaneer.”

Heading into his senior year, Fishell has already helped Scobey to 76 wins with only 3 losses in his first three years there, including a perfect 25-0 and Class C State Championship last year. The Scobey Spartans finished in 4th place at state his freshman year and 3rd place his sophomore year before finally capturing the ultimate prize his junior year. Fishell averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game last year while shooting 52.3% from the field, 39.6% from 3-point range and 71% from the free throw line on his way to being selected 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-State Tourney Team. As a sophomore, he was also 1st Team All-State Tourney Team.

Fishell explained his decision, “I really felt it was the best choice for me to develop my game and the environment was great.”

His new coach, Joe Peterson, was extremely pleased to sign the standout guard, “Fish is mentally tough, has a great work ethic and an outstanding basketball IQ. I think he’s as good as any point guard in the state this year. I’ve been watching him for the past three years and like him more every time I see him. I’ve only said this about 1-2 athletes before, but watching him play makes me smile. Scobey kids are well-coached and fit great in our system because they are taught good defensive principles, love to press, understand team culture and know how to win! Coach Wolfe does an excellent job of helping them be successful and preparing them for the transition to college. I can’t wait to start coaching Aidan.”

After a busy fall with 10 scrimmages against outside competition, the Bucs will tip off the regular season January 20th at Miles Community College.
