On Thursday, February 13, the Dawson Community College Lady Buccaneers Basketball team will host its 6th Annual Play 4Kay Pink Night. They will be playing Williston State College at 5:30 pm followed by the men at 7:30 pm.

Last year, Dawson Community College received an award for raising more funds than any other two-year college in the country. Dawson was honored in Tampa, FL at the NCAA Women’s Final Four convention hosted by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund foundation in partnership with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). This year the Lady Buccaneers plan to do the same by having another fun night of pink action with the community of Glendive and the campus of DCC all in support of the National Breast Cancer Awareness campaign held throughout the country at all levels and divisions of women’s basketball.

Dawson County has been gracious enough to support this cause by local businesses donating many appealing prizes for raffle tickets being sold by the Lady Bucs. Men’s basketball will also join in on the festivities by wearing their pink attire alongside the women’s basketball staff and players. Along with raffle tickets, general donations will be accepted as well. The entire Toepke Center will be decorated in pink ensembles of streamers, posters, balloons, banners and anything else that can be plastered pink.

The basketball games will tip off at 5:30 and 7:30 pm. During timeouts, halftimes and in between games, raffle tickets will be announced and winners will choose among many prizes that will be present on site. With entertainment in full effect, Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. will wear his traditional eyeliner, along with pink nails, pink blush, pink shoelaces and pink earring, as well as his pink outfit.

A new twist this year will be the chance for fans to “Pie-Face” the Lady Bucs coaching staff at halftime of the men’s game. Fans get into the game for free if they are wearing LOTS of pink attire.

Raffle ticket cost $1 per ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, $10 for 12 tickets, $15 for 18 tickets, and $20 for 25 tickets. To Pie-Face coaches on site, tickets will cost $3 for assistant coaches and $5 for Coach Romeo. All proceeds from purchased tickets will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
