DCC’s 12th Annual Summer High School Basketball Tournament is set to tip-off on Friday at noon at the Toepke Center. The number of teams has grown every year for the past five years and this year will be the biggest one yet. Games will be played on two courts at the Toepke Center from 12:00pm-9:00pm on Friday, 8:00am-10:00pm on Saturday and 8:00am-6:00pm on Sunday; as well as other games at Dawson County High School and Washington Middle on Friday from 6:00pm-9:00pm, all day Saturday and Sunday morning from 8:00am-12:00pm. All semifinals and championships will be at DCC on Sunday starting at 12:00pm and concluding at 6:00pm. All teams will compete first in pool play. The results from their pool games will determine seeding for the playoff games which start at 7:00pm on Saturday night.
The 22 boys teams were separated into an Upper Division and Lower Division with 11 teams each. The upper division consists of Class A and AA teams like DCHS, Miles City, Sidney, Lewistown and Skyview JV; as well as some strong Class B and C teams like Wolf Point, Scobey, Forsyth, Froid/Medicine Lake, Mon Dak and last year’s Upper Division Champion, Fairview. The Lower Division includes Baker, Poplar, Custer/Hysham, Belt, Roundup, Beach Bucs, R&L Fusion, Miles City B, Chinook, Circle, Wibaux and the Kings (Crow Agency).
The 20 girls teams were broken down into eight teams in the Upper Division and twelve in the Lower Division. Last year’s winner in the Upper Division was the Tri-City Titans. They will be joined this year by Laurel, Poplar, Sidney, Outlaws (Winifred), DCHS, Froid/Medicine Lake and Miles City. The Lower Division includes last year’s winner, the Fusion, along with Laurel B, Baker, Culbertson, Circle, Wibaux, Miles City B, Hays Lodge-pole, DCHS B, Savage, Plentywood and Wolf Point.

Of the teams that participated in the DCC Tournament last year, 15 of them ended up qualifying for their respective state tournaments in March.
DCC will also be conducting an officiating camp in conjunction with the tournament. Over 25 officials from across Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota will be participating with lead instructors coming from the SEC, Frontier Conference and Mon-Dak Conference.
Tickets for the games this weekend will be on sale at all locations. It will be $20 for all three days, $15 for two days or $10 a day.
