5’10 forward Kendra Kaufman of Dawson County High School has officially signed her NJCAA National Letter of Intent to play for Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. and the Dawson Community College women’s basketball team. Kaufman will be following the likes of former Glendive standouts Sara Hilbert and Maria Zimdars who played for Coach Romeo in the past.

Coach Romeo was pleased on his new local signee, “Since my arrival to Glendive in 2014, I got a chance to see a lot of local talent immediately. I was able to see Kendra grow up and develop as a multi-talented athlete. I believe her aggressive work ethic is what makes her an attractive player. Effort can’t be taught and the heart can’t be measured. Kendra brings those intangibles to our program, and I can’t wait for that to be infectious to the rest of the 2019-2020 squad.”

Kaufman was a 4 year varsity player, starting 3 of those years under Dawson County Head Girl’s Coach Kayla Rivas. She averaged 4 points per game, 4 rebounds per game and 2 steals. Kaufman also ran cross country and track for 2 years, was part of the swim team, participated in cheerleading for one year, and is currently playing tennis. She was also Dawson County High School Class President from 2015-2018. Aside from athletics, she excelled in the classroom, earning Academic All-State all 4 years. Kaufman will be graduating in the top 15 of her class.

Coach Rivas was ecstatic about Kendra’s signing, “I am so excited for her. She was a huge asset to our state qualifying team in 2017-2018. Kendra does so many things that don’t show up in the stats, like energy, work ethic, leadership and being vocal.”

Kaufman commented on her transition to the next level, “I’ve always dreamed of playing college ball and getting to do it in my hometown, which makes it so much better! I’ve never really been one that likes being away from home, so starting off my education at Dawson gives me the opportunity to continue to watch my sister throughout her high school athletic career. I think Dawson as a whole has a lot to offer!”
