Glendive Broadcasting’s Marcy got a chance to meet with the new Baseball Coach up at DCC! They were on “Marcy in the Morning” which airs in the AM on our FM station KDZN 96.5. Coach McClure talked with Marcy about the recent games in Devil’s Lake and about new player prospects coming up this next year.

Straight from his biography on the DCC Athletics page; Coach Phil McClure took over the Buccaneer Baseball program in August, 2018.  He is a graduate of West Virginia University and earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Liberty University.  McClure comes with many years of experience coaching at Southwest Tennessee Community College and Ecclesia College, as well as working as a General Manager in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League and Head Coach of the Stars of Tomorrow U17 team.  His latest stint was at the NJCAA Division I level at Southwest Tennessee Community College where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons and the interim head coach for one season.

In his seven years of coaching college baseball, McClure has signed over 100 players, had a player drafted by Major League Baseball, has three former players playing professionally, and has several players who have signed to play at the NCAA Division I level.

McClure’s coaching philosophy consists of five main elements: Discipline, Accountability, Integrity, Loyalty and Dedication.

DCC Athletic Director Joe Peterson shared about the hiring, “We are extremely excited to hire Phil McClure to continue our strong baseball tradition from the last 20 years.  Coach McClure is hard-working, organized, well-connected, and energetic.  I know he is going to do an excellent job of helping our student-athletes develop on and off the field.  Buccaneer baseball has a bright future.”

McClure and his wife Alycia have two sons, Hunter and Zachary.
