Softball Continues its Dominance on the Road

Shelby Martin of Dawson Shuts Out Lake Region State College 11-0
Shelby Martin didn’t allow a single run against Lake Region State College, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Dawson Community College Softball to an 11-0 victory on Friday. Dawson put up four runs in the seventh inning. Shelby Martin and Hadley Bennett all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
One bright spot for Lake Region was a single by Tyra Robertson in the third inning. Shelby Martin got the start for Dawson. She surrendered zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.
Tehani Yamamoto was on the rubber for Lake Region. She surrendered 11 runs on 15 hits over seven innings, striking out one and walking zero.
The Lady Buccaneers hit one home run on the day. Martin had a long ball in the seventh inning. Lady Bucs collected 15 hits on the day. Jordyn O’Neal, Ashlyn Tingey, Kylee Hergenrider, and Martin each had multiple hits for Dawson. Martin, Hergenrider, Tingey, and O’Neal each managed three hits to lead Dawson.
Dawson Community College didn’t commit a single error in the field. Maycen O’Neal had the most chances in the field with seven.
Coach LeProwse stated, “I was very pleased with the way we came out hitting and scoring runs right away in this game. It always makes it easier on out pitchers when we start the game with a lead.”

Dawson’s Kappel Throws No-Hitter to Defeat Lake Region State 12-0
Alexa Kappel was brilliant on the rubber on Friday, as she threw a no-hitter to lead Dawson Community College past Lake Region State College 12-0. Dawson got things started in the first inning. Reannon Justice doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. The Lady Bucs tallied four runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Kylee Hergenrider, Fallyn Marshall, and Trinity Anderson. Kappel was in the pitcher’s circle for Dawson. She lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out six.
Madison Foss started the game for Lake Region State. She allowed six hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out three. Emily Wininger threw two innings in relief.
Dawson racked up 14 hits on the day. Anderson, Ashlyn Tingey, Ellertson, Hergenrider, and Justice each managed multiple hits for Dawson. Justice, Hergenrider, Ellertson, Tingey, and Anderson each collected two hits to lead the Lady Bucs. Dawson was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Tingey made the most plays with seven.
Coach LeProwse commented, “Alexa threw another no hitter in this game and did a great job of keeping the Lake Region hitters off balance all game. She has done a fantastic job for us all season. We again hit the ball very well in this game.”

Martin Throws Shutout as Dawson Defeats Lake Region 13-0
Shelby Martin shut down Lake Region State College, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Dawson Community College to a 13-0 victory on Saturday. Dawson opened up scoring in the first inning, when they scored one run on a stolen base.
One bright spot for Lake Region State was a single by Tyra Robertson in the first inning. Martin led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Dawson. She went five innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and striking out seven.
Tehani Yamamoto was in the pitcher’s circle for Lake Region. She allowed 12 hits and 13 runs over four innings, striking out two.
Lady Bucs tallied three home runs on the day. Alison Ellertson went for the long ball in the fourth inning. Maycen O’Neal went yard in the third inning. Kylee Hergenrider put one out in the second inning. Kallie Bean led DCC with three hits in three at bats. Dawson didn’t commit a single error in the field. O’Neal had eight chances in the field, the most on the team. Robertson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Lake Region in hits.
Coach LeProwse said, “We hit the ball very well in this game again. We did display some of our power by hitting three home runs in this game. I am very happy with the way we played solid defense and also the way that Shelby pitched in this game.”

DCC Takes Victory Over Lake Region 5-3
Dawson Community College defeated Lake Region State College 5-3 on Saturday. Dawson fired up the offense in the second inning, when Jordyn O’Neal tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Dawson pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, April Davis’s sac fly scored one run for Dawson, Trinity Anderson tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Hadley Bennett singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Alexa Kappel got the start for Dawson. She surrendered three runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out 12.
Madison Foss toed the rubber for Lake Region State. She surrendered five runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Ashlyn Tingey went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lady Bucs in hits. Sadie Schilling led Lake Region with two hits in three at bats.
Coach LeProwse stated, “We did not hit the ball as well in this game. We came out flat and did not put much offensive pressure on them in this game. Pitching wise, Alexa threw another great game and we did play solid defense, but offensively we were flat. Overall, I am pleased with the way the weekend went. Any time you can go and play four games on the road and win all of them you have to be happy.”
