Press Release

The House Republican Steering Committee today tapped Congressman Greg Gianforte to serve on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for the 116th Congress.

“It’s an honor to serve as Montanans’ voice in the U.S. House of Representatives, and I’ll continue putting Montana first on the Energy and Commerce Committee,” Gianforte said. “I look forward to bringing my entrepreneurial experience to the committee as we work to expand opportunities to more Montanans, promote the responsible development of our energy resources, and make health care more affordable and accessible.”

“Greg Gianforte is an excellent addition to the stellar Republican team here at the Energy and Commerce Committee. With his background in computer science, electrical engineering and technology, and  as an entrepreneur and successful business owner, Greg knows first-hand what it takes to create jobs and to put the consumer first, skills that will allow him to hit the ground running at the committee and make a positive impact for the American people,” said House Committee on Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-Ore.).

The Committee on Energy and Commerce is the oldest standing committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and has the broadest jurisdiction of any authorizing committee in Congress. The committee has responsibility for matters including telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health and research, environmental quality, energy policy, and interstate and foreign commerce among others
