Ladies Split as Boys Drop Both Games – SCOREBOARD

The high school basketball season started in earnest this weekend as the Lady Red Devils were at home while the Boys traveled to both Lewistown and Havre. The home court advantage helped only slightly as the Lady Red Devils won one and lost one while hosting the Fergus Golden Eagles and the Havre Blue Ponies.

The girls played Fergus on Friday and were able to control the game and handily defeated the Golden Eagles by a score of 50 to 31.

Saturday’s game was completely opposite of Fridays, as the 2017 State Champion Havre Blue Ponies pounded on the Lady Red Devils winning by the score of 72 to 33.  The Lady Red Devils possibly tired from Friday’s game never really seemed to be in the game as the Blue Ponies took total control of the game and continued their undefeated early season charge to repeat as State Champs.

While the Ladies were hosting Fergus, the Boy’s were at Lewistown to play the Fergus Golden eagles. It was obvious from the beginning that DCHS Boy’s were out matched by the Golden Eagles. The Boy’s never had the lead in the game as the Golden Eagles dominated every aspect of Fridays game. The Boy’s lost by a score of 68 to 43.

After traveling to Havre the Red Devils hoped the change of venue would prove to be more friendly. Saturday’s game was again a struggle for the Boy’s who have been plagued by illness and early injuries. The Havre Blue Ponies made the best of their home court advantage and defeated the Dawson County Red Devils by a score of 56 to 32.

Both the Boys and the Girls will be on the road for their next games Friday December14th. The team buses will take the Boys and Girls Red Devils to Colstrip. The Boys team will start the action at 5:45pm and the Girls will play at 7:30pm.
